The Portishead Lifeboat Trust is the chosen charity that the Black Rock Quarry site team will be supporting throughout the duration of the project.
The Trust is a registered charity that runs and maintains the Portishead and Bristol Lifeboat. Their mission is: "To save and protect the lives of the general public, in particular by the provision of a Lifeboat in the Severn Estuary centred on Portishead."
The Black Rock Quarry team has agreed to support this charity throughout the duration of the works by fundraising activities such as cake sales, dress down days and money tins in the office and induction room.
Monies raised by the team will go towards maintenance and repair (and, from time to time, replacement) of the lifeboat and its engines, electrical equipment and other on board equipment. The cost of running the lifeboat per year is £30,000.
